Please allow me to introduce myself...
My name is Jess Clinton. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. My father, George S. Clinton, a film composer, was the first source of music in my life. He is still, hands down, my musical hero. I learned to read music from a very young age and began learning to play on the Irish folk harp at age 7. In high school, I became drawn into musical theatre and jazz, and participated in every music elective my school had to offer. I also had the honor of singing on a number of my fathers film scores from ages 12-16. My vocal mentor ages 12-18 was the renowned and fabulous Rebecca Somberg who teaches out of Calabasas, CA.
I graduated from New York University in 2012 with a BA in Songwriting and Folk Musicology. While attending, I had the pleasure of taking courses at the Clive Davis School of Recorded Music, and finished my degree with an original EP which can be found on iTunes and Spotify, mentored by producer Nick Sansano. My teaching began upon moving to NYC, and blossomed upon teaching with Brooklyn Music Lessons, a great company which has sadly since dissipated. I still currently study voice with the esteemed artist, vocologist, and Broadway native Tyley Ross.
